Indian Head Pennies
These Indian head pennies were found in a tree near the Radley's house by Jem and Scout. One of the Indian heads was from 1916, and the other one was from 1900. These coins were valuable and kept for good luck. For example, Jem says, "They're real strong magic, they make you have good luck", and he says, "...these are real valuable to somebody" (Lee 46). This reveals Jem's good and humble character. He suggests to keep them and return them to the owner of the pennies.
I selected this item because I thought it was interesting how they found these coins in a tree. This relates to TKAM because Scout and Jem found these Indian head pennies in the book. This item reveals Jem's good and humble character. He suggests to keep them and ask everyone if it's theirs. I believe that Boo wanted to give this to Jem and Scout as a gift. Maybe there was no other way for Boo to communicate then with giving gifts in the tree near the Radley's house.
