Gum Wrappers
Scout discovers two pieces of in a tree near the Radley's house. She was going to automatically pop it into her mouth but decided to eat it when she got to her porch. Jem later questions her about where she got the gum. Scout then tells him that she find it. Jem answers with "don't eat things you find, Scout" (Lee 44). This reveals Jem's protective character over his sister.
It connects to TKAM because
Scout found these gum wrappers in the book. After Jem founds out that Scout
found the pieces of gum, he automatically yells at Scout to spit it out. This
proves that he adores and cares about Scout immensely. He also tells her to
gargle just in case. Overall, he is a very protective brother.
