Diary Entry about Boo
August 1, 1930
Dear Diary,
Today was a very exciting day. Dill and I were planning a long time for this day. We wanted to do it at night since it was easier to sneak around. Just in case we didn’t survive, we planned this at the end of the summer. I thought Scout would want to join in, but she kept arguing with me. She gets more feminine every single day. I told her that she was, and she ended up coming along with us. The Radley’s place had a large garden with a wood outhouse. After a lot of debating, we decided to crawl underneath the wired fence. I let Dill crawl first then Scout. She held up the fence for me. I barely squeezed under the fence. I saw a gate that separated the back yard and the garden. I tiptoed quickly and quietly to the gate. I saw Scout catching up to me. The gate took a lot of saliva to quietly open the gate. The backyard did not seem very friendly. We slowly sneaked to the window, but the window was way out of our reach. Scout and I made a little basket with our hands and lifted Dill up. I was so excited and anxious to finally see Boo, but Dill said that he saw nothing because of the curtains. I felt my excitement slowly disappear. Well I was not going to give up until I saw Boo. We went to the back windows. Ir was a BIG mistake. I tried to not to make a noise and crawled to the back windows. I saw a shadow with a hat on. It was moving quickly towards me. We all ran out in a hurry. While we were all running, I was Scout trip onto the floor. Right when she tripped, I heard a loud shotgun go off. Dill and I jumped towards the ground. I ran to the fence and held the bottom up for Dill and Scout. As I tried to squeeze through the bottom, my pants got stuck on the fence. I quickly shoved my pants off. We saw a bunch of neighbors piling in front of the Radley’s house. To not look suspicious, we walked towards the group of people. They were all talking when they suddenly questioned about me not wearing pants. I was frantically trying to come up with an excuse when Dill came up of one. Dill said that we were playing strip poker. They all believed it, and we walked back to our house. We were all saying good byes when I saw Dill kiss Scout. Later that night, I went to go get my pants.

I told Scout about what I saw when I went to go get my pants. The pants were folded on the fence, and it looked like a child sewed up the pants. While we were walking, Scout and I found a hole inside a tree in front of the Radley’s house. Inside the hole, we found a ball of twine. Scout was reaching for it, but I told her not to take it just to be cautious. I didn’t want to take another person’s belongings. After a day, we took the twine.

We found two miniature figures made out of soap. Scout threw them at the ground in a hurry. I quickly picked it up and dusted it off. When I was rubbing the dirt off, I saw a resemblance between the figures and us. We also found a packet of gum and award metals. We decided to write a letter of appreciation to the person who was putting all these stuff for us.

While we were walking to school, we saw the tree filled up with cement. At that moment, I felt a sudden pang of sadness. Maybe it was Boo who was trying to communicate with us?
